I like what I like.
If someone jumps genre and its good then I will respect that, but it has sounded shit.
Most grime mc's dont have the content to pull of hip hop. where grime is more about the music, so people let content standards slide somewhat in grime.
But for the record. I rate the route Dizzee has taken, Maths and English in theory if you not so hung up on genre is probaly his best album.
And I love wearing my Rolex.
Have a slight dislike for roll deep, Its like they couldn't wait to get off wileys leash.

A long debate is not necessary here.
The facts are this:
1) The Movement are way behind in the popularity (and therefore sales) stakes in comparison to BBK, despite, in my opinion, being more talented.
2) They must decide what they want, as they will never convince the majority of grime fans (and therefore the scene's appearance to outsiders) that slowed down HH beats are appealing...
3) Grime is and should stay raving music. If they wanna be grime emcees and reap the benefits of the scene i.e. bare bookings a la BBK, they're gonna have to make predominantly grime music. If they wanna be all round artists, then they should be free to pursue whatever they want. I think it will be much harder for them that way, however.
Forget Dizzee btw, he isn't even a member of this scene in any serious way anymore. Times have changed.

Thats a gross generalization and you know it.
A lot of grime emcees do make hip hop tho, granted. nothing wrong with that except when people say fuk uk hip hop and then go and throw on a black the ripper cd, who is one of my top emcees in the game.

Scorcher is very good at what he does. I don't think it's fake hip hop at all. I just thing it's an amorphous spitting technique based more on word play. UKHH artists of the kind you went to see are far more raw and less polished than Scorcher and definitely have more natural rapping skills i.e. freestyling.

..cos Scorch, Kano, Dizzee etc. are NOT good at hip-hop, and it's frustrating because they are good at grime.. feel free to show some versatility or even just switch genres as long as you're good at it..

I don't even think it's a matter of "showing versatility" with these people, but more about covering all bases because they're misguidedly thinking about that elusive yank cash and non-existent magic 6 figure deals. The less time they spend dreaming about that nonsense and the more time writing decent bars, the better.

I think taz & quality control have summed it up really. People wouldn't moan about their hip hop if it was decent

All comes down to childishness........remember all of these "artists" are children who are acting out what they see on MTV Base or Smack DVD.......and its really obvious when you look at Scorcher, Ghetto &Wretch 32, what they are doing

The day 679 turned its back on grime, its kinda gone downhill.
679 basically ran the whole scene. I think people don't have a clue about 679 the secret society of grime.

679 were just releasing shit to prime audiences for their new signings (that's why you got peeps like sov, plan b and kano on the run the road comps).

But they organised all the press.
Chantell Fiddy and them were all on the pay roll.
Noticed when 679 pulled out that there was no more grime articles.
Thats when the mixtapes started dropping.

Them peeps had served their purpose. They had no intention of promoting the genre. All they wanted was to milk the hype.
