I don't mind Hip Hop, Hip Hop is good.
Nas is Hip Hop, he is good
Soulja Boy is also Hip Hop, he should give up
Scorcher leans towards the Soulja Boy side of Hip Hop ie. the shit side
It's not the fact that he does Hip Hop, its just he makes shit Hip Hop
You lot want to hear decent UKHH check out the new Ransom Badbones CD

1) Scorcher was a showerman on radio 05/early 06
2) his previous cds were such a piss poor effort that if i ever met him i would slap him for me wasting my time listening to them and then ask for my money back
I don't want none of this artist bollocks, i just want a grime cd.

Should have ditched last year's hip-hop beats but apart from that I like it. What I don't understand is why no-one goes for flat out classic beats if you're going to do American hip-hop. Some old RZA or Premier or even Pete Rock or whatever.
Oh well, it's good, if I see it when I buy OG Season & FOS I'll buy it. Straight cash for the next few weeks so fuck an internet buy.

Very poor mixtape 6 grime tunes that's including the rinse freestyle.
Lauren Mason track is awfull, He could have at least vocaled D.O.K's One Blood remix instead, Hustle Hard out dated blackjack beat etc etc, Concrete jungle is big though.
For me this is a below par scorcher release giving us more of what we don't want to hear, sounds very rushed to me.

^^^^100% real talk
Just heard this and thought it sounded bizarre!.
Truth is Scorcher has an identity crisis and doesn't know if his a Kano understudy or a Killa Cam stunt double.
I found the wide range of music entertaining, but often hampered by poorly written half baked songs.
With the abundance of wannabe RnB chicks out there, I fail to see the fascination with this uber chav named Lauren Mason??
Her shrill cat like vocals feel like rusty nails shredding through my brain.
Scorchers mumble mouthed flow doesn't do anything to help his poorly projected introverted verses.
Bottom line.
This CD was flung out to get that notorious AJ advance.
Grime/Hip Hop I like them both, but this Dawg SHIT!!
4/10 (and that's because I'm a movement fan)

Fuck off ... that's how music SHOULD be. An artist should be making the music that they like, not what everyone else wants. Then, if other people happen to like it, it should sell and do well and everyone's happy.
Trouble is, it ain't happening ... people are making music with the aim of selling it to a particular audience, even though they're not great at that style ... hence shit music.

Music should be music before business. At no point should a reggae artist find theirself doing bassline house just because they'll sell 100 more units. The artists should stay true to what THEY like doing.

Yeh but Scorcher came up MC'ing and Dj'ing grime music. It's not like he doesn't like grime, but I tihnk he believes grime is beneath him/for kids and his lyrics are now too good for grime beats.
Because truesay him shouting MAN'LL COME TO YOUR BITS WITH JERMAINE AND ROSS sounds better on grime than his recent lyrics could.

LOL It's a fair comeback. On a real though, give me some names ... any time I have tried listening to UKHH it's been shit, in fact, it hasn't been Hip Hop, it's been Rap, and I prefer the former.
I like Logic and Lowkey, and I'm sure there was a guy called Pixel or something I heard about once, but other than that, Sway and Sincere, anything else I've listened to has been air.
Test me, give me some names, I'll listen and see if I'm feeling any of it.

..his technical rhyming skill is sick.. the only set back about his flow is sometimes his deliverance is too laid back and his accent can be quite annoying.. he has the multi's, metaphors, punchlines, poetical lyrics and social consciousness though.. his flow might not be as quick as Doogz or Devlin but it's just as technical..

..depends what kind of hip-hop you do and whether it's any good.. hip-hop has a much higher earning potential overall.. but it looks like Kano realised he's not good/marketable enough to tap into the big hip-hop money so he jumped back into the pond so he can be a big fish again for a little while..

The Streets came as a garage act, So Solid Crew were garage Dizzee Rascal was garage/grime era.........Sway, Skinny Man, SAS. Klashnekoff & Plan B are hip hop.......compare the sales and its a no brainer, UK Hip Hop is not wanted by the underground or the mainstream, its has a small loyal fanbase

Any last requests? spark your last spliff
Before you get dragged into darkness
I walk through your palace in the raggedest garments
Baggy hangin' off of my arse shit

Each verse a verbal earthquake make the world celebrate my birthday
Sick in the worst way, wastin' away waitin' for first aid
I break bread with the first ape
To walk upright and talk just like a drunk on a rough night ('nuff strife)
Queens sellin' themselves at cut price
Open like butterfly knives it's not nice I rock mic's
Duppy put rock in their pipes
Deprived puppies keep barkin', blockin' my light
Yap yappin' at my ankles
I work so many angles, so my jeans jangle like bangles
I manhandle ample stress, spark bless, then I blow out the candles
Get sweet dreams
(Chorus by Usmaan)
Hybrid fiends dominate your TV screens
Diablo's, near death fiasco's
RUN HARD
Keep your worst thoughts on charge
When you see a mirage
From Gestapo at large
RUN HARD
Fiends dominate your TV screens
Diablo's, near death fiasco's
RUN HARD
Keep your worst thoughts on charge
Towards the mirage
RUN HARD
J Star spit for catharsis, me and Dr Who buil'in' spliffs in the tardis
Leave your reputation tarnished
I talk carnage garnish tracks with ganja and garlic for vampire varmints
Fire for them halfwits, and hard heads who start shit
Any last requests? spark your last spliff
Before you get dragged into darkness
I walk through your palace in the raggedest garments
Baggy hangin' off of my arse shit
I spit arsenic, if you're askin' the wrong questions
In the studio for long sessions
Stressed out about the rent every pound spent lost or lent
Begged borrowed or stolen
Wrestlin' with stress like it's Hulk Hogan baby
That drank the whole cauldron of magic potion
Potent, I patent my own slogan
Alone smokin' a cone, stoned
Approachin' in a Trojan horse, with a hundred heads from up North
Negative and 'nuff coarse of course
Forcefully stormin' your fort
The rebel with a cause without pause for thought it's WAR
RUN HARD"
that album is alot

Everything you said is true..........,for americans!
True Carter,
But Dizzee broke the mainstream with Hip-Hop based singles and still continuous to do so.

..Sway, Dizzee Rascal and Kano's last albums, Example, Roots Manuva, Akala & Plan B have had more mainstream shine than any grime has.. but you're right it does apply to USA much more so than it does England..
..plus major British labels are much more willing to take the safe route and stick to the path laid by American's rather than take a risk and attempt to profit off of grime, which has never properly been done before besides the odd song..

i don't think you can mention UKHH without mentioning Kyza who to me is the best all-round emcee in the scene.
Devil in a dress>>>>>>>>>
scorcher would get shown up in that scene.
also UKHH has more regular releases. both cd & vinyl, than grime as well as having a lot more raves/club nights.
if i was scorcher i'd be contacting grime online radio, getting a slot & start to rebuild the hype again

Fix Up Look Sharp was crowd pleaser but he would never of been in that position if it wasn't for I Luv U and The grimey Boy In Da Corner.....
I never had a problem with Sirens or Typical Me because I didn't see them as Hip Hop, just experimental music.

..Jehst - Run Hard (from Falling Down LP) (http://www.zshare.net/audio/86854077dfcfbd/).. listen to the multi's, punchlines and timing..
"It's the million militant picture paintin, quick debatin'
I hit terrain my trainers grip the pavin'
The city's depraved decayed, quick to cave in
I kick the greatest game, pick up the pace
Shake the cage, rattle bars, we bare battle scars
Fresh blood out the abbatoir
Avant Garde rappers are ready for champagne and caviar
I stay camouflaged armed with a travel card (travel unchartered paths)
Pass the parcel, I'm partial to parsley, puff it like Bob Marley
Charged without charlie, chalk the score up
Babylon upon us better board the door up
Dancefloors are torn up we tourin' Europe

Yeah I know this tune big word play, but the delivery is baggy.
It kinda reminds me of what Em said about Canibus, "tell us about the sun, moon and stars and intergalactic-al metaphors from mars"lol

..word play = flow to me.. the multi's, the puns, the punchlines, the timing..
..what's your definition of flow?? sounds to me like you're more tlaking about charisma, mic presence and delivery, which i class as a whole separate aspect of MCing.. "swagger" is what it's called i guess but that word is corny as fuck..

What about "Just a Rascal" that could be a Busta riddem?
All of those experimental sounds you mention still fall under the Hip Hop banner.
Sirens is just an ode to "Run DMC/Beastie Boy's and Rick Rubin"
I've got no problem with listening to different style's from Dizzee that's one of the reasons BITC worked for me ,because it had different sounds with an MC I could relate to.

Flow = Natural phrasing and placement of the words and punch lines rhythmically on the beat.
Charisma= when someone has personality and can make something thats extremely difficult appear to look dead easy like a Gymnast.
The Below MC's encompassed that.
1. Biggie
2. Slick Rick
3. Big Daddy Kane
4. Rakim
5. Big L
6. Jay-z
7. Eminem
8. Redman
9. Q- Tip
10. Kanye

..nah flow = word-play, multi's, puns, timing - it's all to do with the actual writing of the bars.. some rappers with amazing flow:
1. Big Punisher
2. Eminem
3. Kool G Rap
4. A.Z.
5. Common
..you seem to be mistaking it for "swagger".. which is rhythm, delivery, mic presence, energy, confidence, style.. which is whatmost of the rappers your list are known for (flow aswell in the cases of Biggie, Rakim, Jay-Z and Eminem though).. for example Kanye West; he has a very basic/poor flow but alot of charisma..

Careful word placement on the beat is the foundation of a good flow, without it swagger will only get you so far imo.
I've seen people scream into mic's, try 100+ takes changing how they project (swagger) only to be hampered by poorly structured verses.
Performance without well structured verses is like flooring a mini, your only gonna so fast!.
The best MC's for me phrase their raps like how they talk so it sounds natural on the beat and they can breathe.
That's why I mentioned Kanye he's not as basic as people may think his phrasing is incredibly natural.
It's easy to sound urgent like your struggling on a beat and fighting with words.
It's harder to pull of those same acrobatics effortlessly to the point where people cant see how hard your working.

..Scorcher's completely lost it, which is shame.. he had the potential to be sick but i'm not sure whether he decided he's too lyrical for grime (which he certainly isn't) or just thought that the bait hip-hop was a quicker route to success.. either way he's shot himself in the foot big-time..

It went off topic, so it was correct to move it, but as you see it is now back on topic and in the grime room.

moving a topic becuase it went of topic kills the convo tho.
it was still relevant anyway, saying how scorcher a grime mc(questionable at times lol) can or can not compete with UKHH as he is trying to be one
