Exactly it's extremely unprofessional to ignore release dates or come up with excuses. There is a lot of effort being put into this release like a lot of the main artists have done, and its a shame that its a record shop that had to mess the plan up. Especially as the actual music was held back from most people and was cleverly allowed not to leak. I'd seriously think about ordering from UKRS again because of this, thats how much respect I have lost for the shop in question.
Sad to see ANOTHER project with good music not get the credit money and sales wise that it deserves.

Cd's get leaked on the day of release because the bootleggers go buy it, go home, upload.

I only care about maximum sales. release dates are the most important thing in the campaign, you work towards one day, bringing a mass of hype with you. If someone kills that by releasing nearly a week before then your fucked.

bootlegging will always happen... always, its impossible to stop, it unidentifiable but shops can stop releasing early - its alot easier.

First off, i have been away for a few days ill this week anyway and it was a staff member of the store that put this up. Now im not sure whats going on, i got a phone call today saying that yeah we had ghettos cd but we shouldn't of sold it apparently! now if that is the case then a full apology will be made and i have requested that from the Uptown management as i cannot take responsibility for it as i was not aware. But that said let me point out a few things about how pathetic i think some people are being on here about a cd that was released in small amounts just before it was suppose to hit.

For one, we are an independent record store! We usually do not stick to every official release date as we have the privilege of being independent and thats the whole point. We are not suckered down by the majors and told what to do. Hence like your local game store you can get your shit before it drops! Not to promote piracy!! But to promote hype. And for all those thinking we had 500 and sold them all yest and made mad money lol at your face! Please, this is very official. We appreciate and support this scene in its whole and many of you on here should now know i put in a hard graft to make sure this scene gets heard!! But that is not the be all and end all of our store! Not by far!

Now my personal opinion (this has NOHING to do with uptown, just my own thoughts and feelings).

One, it got leaked not through UKRS or from Uptown selling early but actually from HMV! I have proof of this due to the very fact that the leak i have seen which is from IRC (which is the top of the food chain for downloads) includes a barcode digit section on their NFO WHICH UPTOWN DOESNT USE! We do not have a barcode scanner or do not need one. Plus the rip is track-listed, history used and link given is to HMV in the NFO not uptown or UKRS like many where!

Secondly, im also very pissed off at people here acting like we just destroyed all of ghettos sales and reputation! I mean have a day off!!

Third and lastly! Im overly pissed off at the scene and the lack of support on here with all this from certain people! Look at it from my point of view. Did ghetto ever moan when he bought in a white label to sell in our shop over the many years that he could not get into any major shop because its not legit on a label? NO! He and many others certainly dont mind using us then do they! When they are nobody! Also what about supporting their independent record store? I mean fair enough he has kindly agreed to come down on sat to appear instore but what else? What benefit has he or many other artists given the independents with their new found fame? People like ghetto if they dont know should know we cant compete with stores like HMV with free delivery etc! We dont get any price cut, any exclusive, any sort of incentive to say you know what you supported me and my music over the years by taking in your stock and giving years worth of amazing customer service while promoting artists left right and center! We get nothing. So shoot us, we sell the cd a few days early to create a bit of hype. But i think its disgusting that most of these artists are deserting their local stores that made them and gave them the ability to make money when labels didn't even want to piss of them! Thats why so many stores are gone and to be honest there are only a handful left!

Im very tired of this scene atm with its users apon users! If its not Kano now wanting to do a grime mixtape because he has been dropped or ghetto overlooking the small stores that helped made him and then act like we more or less bootlegged his cd from the store! Its very wrong and very pathetic. Like i said they are my opinions and i have urged the Uptown management to release a statement apologizing for the error.

Please read what i said. When ghetto was no one and came into uptown with his tunes on no label with no legal aspect at all and only us being a independent can do such a thing as to sell his tracks. If you had arrangements then fair enough to release it early, But you didn't, only on Saturday. Which was the point I was making. I completely understand whhere you are coming from... but its not much of the issue. I can only really say what I've been told as well as what I think and I never even realised guys like dark and cold were doing that.
