Don't know if anyone clocked this already, apologies if so.

From what he says, it looks like it'll be a success on here then :-P

I dont understand why people dont think Bell Dem Slags is one of the finest pieces of spoken word ever written.

Lyrically, several songs follow familar patterns: staccato flows boasting about cash, violence and sex (none more explicitly than in the despicable hymn to group sex, Bell Dem Slags).

It's about group sex? Never listened to the lyrics properly before.

Anyhow, as Bell Dem Slags and Puff The Magic Lemon aren't much of a selling point, and Heads Get Mangled is too far off from the scene, I won't be copping this release.

Out of grime I can't remember much recent actual tracks that I like other than "Big Man Ting", "Too Many Man", and "Next Hype". Think I've been listening too much to old stuff and other genres recently. Gonna cop the Lava Unit CD though.

Thing is I've never liked Newham Generals tracks much, apart from "Prang Man", I've mostly just liked their features on other people's tracks or on sets.

"Sadly, the lyrics don't bear close inspection, channelling Rascal's braggadocio and disaffection without his wit or sophistication, and settling for rampant misogyny on the horrifically titled "Bell Dem Slags"."

Clearance issues or something?

This album should be big, waited long enough and they aren't the type to bang out sweetboy tunes. Violence and Bell Dem Slags are sounding good, so I'm hyped.

who really gives a fuck if this cunt likes it?

By far the best verse is Dizzee's guest appearance on Violence.

idiot, he literally just said that because he knows who dizzee rascal is and it's 'cool' for middle class professionals to be able to look beyond the violent content and appreciate the 'wit' within dizzee's music

How can that long haired faggots opinion hold any weight

He isn't exactly part of the target audience for the CD. They should let people who know more about the scene review CD's, other than these posh bastards who have no idea about urban music.

This. Dizzee was showed up on violence. Easily the worst on it.

i feel to write a very angry letter (semi serious)

Because they'd write about 3 reviews a year.

GrimmyGrimGrim
30th March '09, 06:01 PM
they should just get a freelance guy they can ring whenever a grime release comes out

not like these indie guys give a fuck, they probably knocked that up in 10 minutes

This review makes me really want to buy it, at least there aint any shitty sellout songs about rolexes or sunglasses on it otherwise he would have talked about them.

rwd's review of urban music >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> guardian's review of urban music

wuldnt even give my right leg to read sum toffee-nosed 9-to-5 jackass' half-hearted scribbled-in-10-mins piece of dog shite

Don't think the gens were looking for people to speak about them as top 3 lyricists ever, they wanted to make skanking music.

lol at the best verse being dizzee's on violence, that was the worst verse on that tune and i'm a dizzee fan lol

these guys dont know about urban music
they only like commersh crossover tunes
allow these sorts of reviews

makes you think what the point of the gens doing 'dancey' tracks was tho when the masses just arent gonna get this music

I was going to read the review but it hold no weight after saying Dizzee's was the best verse on violence

i wanna see bell dem slags go top 10 lol

Kristian

That Pepper song is going to be the next single innit? Bell Dem will hopefully get banned, and everyone will try and get their hands on a copy, propelling New gens into mega stardom, and Dee will start seeing Gemma Atkinson and getting papped for 'More!'

I can but dream.

Galvatron
1st April '09, 12:18 PM
Is bell dem slags even that bad? plenty of songs about sex

Not credited Footsie or Tubby for any of the productions either.
