Personal preference?
Yeah.. I use Logic and Pro Tools 8.
Pro 8 is much tighter on drums and the I prefer the layout as it's only 2 pages.
I find it sounds better and is more stable when it comes to multi tasking.

Logic was always better for keyboard editing, but crap for drum programing as it has timing issue's, but represented value for money as you get a lot for a small price.
Protools was always stronger in the Audio editing/mixing department, but ever since the new Protools 8, it's stepped up on the keyboard editing department and is now on par with Logic.

I see, I haven't used pro 8. Still debating whether to get digi hardware or not.

It's a no brainer...
Digi hardware is the way forward as the quality is great and you have the option to run Pro tools if you choose as it comes free with the hardware.

what can you do with it
The notation editing and piano roll layout was advanced an intuitive, but other programs have caught up.
Logic represents bang for buck as you get a lot of synth's and effect's plugins bundled with it.

Logic uses RTAS, TDM, Audiounit as well as VST's with a "VST wrapper"

Pro Tools LE and M-Powered are exactly the same thing only differences is:
1 "M-Powered" allows you to run M-Audio soundcards.
2 "Pro Tools LE" is strictly for Digidesign hardware only.
Pro Tools LE/M-Powered is around £300 mark
Pro tools TDM cost big bucks as it's all hardware based..tbh you wont notice a difference and those systems are becoming redundant now as Native is running so fast due to the increased power of computers.

Nuendo's got more Pro features for mixing, like better "Delay compensation" and mix routing.
I find it more solid and prefer the layout to Cubase.

aint realy been a reason person so i cant compare, but i would definately recommend Logic. Stock sounds are sik and theres 40 gb of samples and sound effects. i would imagine audio editing and plugins are better on logic aswel..

It's not what you use, but how you use it.
