View Full Version : Do Grime Dj's do any other music?

What I mean is, why doesn't somebody like Mak Ten, whose mixing is basically perfect with grime, play sets with normal dance/pop/club music at somewhere like Oceana or suttin, so he could actually make some ha;f-decent money from music, instead of just playing the occasional sidewinder?

Cos surely if he (just using him as an example seeing as he's generally seen as the number one Dj) can mix grime records that well, he could easily mix dance tracks and club tunes etc.

Do any grime Dj's do this?

Are you fucking stupid?

Read my post again.

I said why doesn't he play CLUB MUSIC IN CLUBS for extra P seeing as his levels are so high.

Not why doesn't he turn up to a set at Oceana and drop Stageshow Riddim.

theyd get too many grime fans crying about it so thats why they dont i reckon

like wen bossman started playin funky house he got bare abuse

i think dj's would be too shook to do it an maybe loose theyre core fanbase, but i personally think its a good idea an would do it purely for the money

the problem is that most people in commercial clubs are that trashed that they don't care if the musics mixed well. So the clubs unlikely to pay for someone like mak when they can get any so called "dj" to do it cheaper.

Nah not even.

I've been to Oceana (just using this as a example cos it's a big, national wide club) a couple times and the Dj's mixing was immense. Truesay he was dropping things like Umbrella and Ayo Technology but his mixing was on point.

Also, I don't see how grime "fans" could attack him for playing a club night once or twice a week or more. I'm not saying he should stop grime, still do radio and raves etc. but just do clubs for the p, seeing as grime ain't really feeding anyone, espeically Djs.

Grime fans are narrow minded and, in general, quite immature. Having their favourite DJ mix music other than what they are used to is just too much for them.

It's the same with spitting imo.

You should be able to rap on what every you like ,but there's some close minded individuals that will be quick to call you a sellout purely out of jealousy.

A lot of dj's do. Cant stop i guy from getting his hustle on. The fact is; if grime aint paying ur bills you've got to look elsewhere until it does imo.

It's not selling out, its about making some p

I've got a tape here of a set by a mate of mine (DJ name is Volvoe, south east) that goes from grime to dubstep to niche to old school garage and it's a lot. I would flip if I heard that sort of set out.
