Oh and JP, Tronics as well...

As we've witnessed, grime artists going out to America doesn't seem to work that well, the internet is the way forward to push this music, that's what Cypher Sounds was saying, like, look at the post Kanye did, bare comments.

I think, us grime bloggers, should 'separately' approach other US Hip Hop blogs and ask them if they can put a link of our blog on their blogroll or something. And see what response we each get.

Like when Cypher and them were talking, they kept saying, what you guys talk about is the same down here in america, which makes me think, for them to consume it, they would need to obv. relate to it... which also makes me think that the popular US blogs would respond well to Hyperfrank, because they would instantly think, "hmmmm this looks a bit like the blog Real Talk Ny (http://www.realtalkny.rawkus.com)"...

then boom, we got a little something something...

Blogs we could contact, like:
http://crunktastical.blogspot.com/
http://www.concreteloop.com/

There's loads... but what you lot think of the idea?

I aint a blogger myself but that sounds like a good idea.

Its a way of judging how well received the music would be. kinda like a foot in the door.

This is a good idea, but the US bloggers do US hip hop so they may not want grime artists on there blog.

Worth a try though.

EDIT:

Were're not focusing on physically connecting to america, JME and Skepta faild on that, we are focusing on the internet.

Grime also lives on the internet, so tell me what's wrong with connecting to the e-americans.

Europe > America

More open minded people. I am in Europe every other month and I would love to hear grime alongside Dubstep in their clubs. Dubstep is doing very well in Europe.

Europe is our 50 states. Grime has never caught on to this concept.

But don't you lot feel that at times the real world and the internet are two different things?

In the real world, we got the mc's handling the abroad shows and shit.

And on the internet, we got the bloggers handling the exposure and shit.

You lot are saying to focus on the European countries, but how many European countries have popular music blogs, for street music, that we 'bloggers' can contact and affiliate with.

The thing about European countries is a lot of them have their own language so there's language barriers you would have to pass. I know people don't always listen to music for the lyrics (I used to listen to french rap lol) but Grime is pretty much lyric oriented. I don't think people would understand the hype and stuff around certain songs... It's also mostly a UK thing, quite a lot of the time people spit about things that affect them... I think we need to get bigger in the UK before thinking of expanding anywhere else lol.

grime dnt hav 2 be lyric orientated if da beat is fucked.

if da beat has energy. in a club people dnt give a fuck wot ur saying. dnt think of it as a mixtape sales thing. think of it as djs playing da tunes in clubs, or djs and mcs getting booked out there.

exactly.

grime is a rave music. hype mc and a sick beat are enough.

on the other hand doe, non-uk grime audience (at least here) is different 2 british, deres hardly dat much ''ghetto youths who can relate 2 dis music like in uk'', german ghetto youths listen 2 hip hop and some other shit dats on tv, not really concerned bout finding some other, better music.

so most ppl into it are ''grown'' already and in most cases kno english, better or worse but i think every1 clocks wats the tune about wen i show dem

Why don't we try and get Grime in places other than London, Manny, Notts, Bristol and Brum?

I know someobody will make a comment about Grime in other area's but it's not a big thing anywhere else.

It should be like it is in London all over the country (apart from countryside)

lol wtf

we dont need america - america dont want us

basically

what you lot need to understand is...

america doesnt care about grime or anything that isnt american, and they never will

ask jim jones, styles and LL about jme and skepta..

their reply would most probably be along the lines of...

"Who?"

..i got another idea!!..

..let's kidnap some american's and force them to listen to grime until they think it's good!! then maybe Devlin can buy a new house!..

ask them about one up and coming rapper not in their own city and they will probably give you the same answer

People will accept British music if they like it, they (USA) have accepted dancehall music and that's not American, it's not about repping where you're from, it's about making good music.

I dunno why people wanna spread the word of grime, and not the music.

Everyone on the planet might know about something, but doesn't mean people will buy into grime.

If people in America like grime, then they will just download it unlegit.
They no purpose going to America without a major record deal and then even with the biggest record deal theres still little hope of making an impact.

Dizzee ain't that big, the kind of people who like Dizzee in america are the same kind of people who listen to Sian Supa crew(French Rap Group) over here.

If Grime focuses on making it as a more instrumental driven scene,
It would spread faster as there's no language barriers or unreliable artist like Wiley not showing up to gigs.

Before we work on europe we need to work on our own artist getting big from outside of London without being affiliated with the BBK administration lol

frankD
21st February '08, 11:56 PM
This scene has been ruined by artists in someways.

It was the instrumentals which made this genre grime, the mc's are just mc's.

We focused too much on certain people and not a sound in general.

I think grime could blow if the scene we back to dj led and mc's knew there place.

Elijah speaks the truth.

I personally wouldn't bother trying to make an effort with yanks.

We need to concentrate out efforts with whats on our doorstep imo.

Plus not every blog is good imo so that would just lead to everyman and their dog getting some shine.
