Wow, time warp, took me back to 2005.
You need to get some up to date plugins that haven't been battered. Sonik Synth is an improved version of Sampletank and even that's old.
Check for Nexus, Colossus, Omnisphere, East/West stuff

I had one of them miniMac things for a while still to learn Logic. It was easy to use, but I never felt I was in control if you get me? Like any small problem with my PC I can tweak/change/fix, but with a Mac I never really had that understanding.
Plus, there were a whole bunch of plugins I had that wouldn't run on mac but would on pc.

Rags, 60gb is serious strain for the RS.com account ... that might even be bigger than when I downloaded East/West Symphonic Choirs

Rah, only 4 discs and that much? Choirs was 12 DVDs I think lol
The East/West stuff is SICK if you got a big external to run it off. It's no use for Grime though, it's too real ... you can just about get away with it in Hip Hop, it's hard to explain. The sounds are stunning, but it really is focused heavily on sound designers for film etc.
I got the Choirs one because it came with a program where you can type in what you want it to say and it sings it in mad different styles, which would be FUCKED. Like I could literally have it say "Demos is gay" (no send lol) and then play that on different keys and shit. Look up the demo videos on youtube and the shits got crazy potential.
BUT
Allow unzipping a DVD, to find more RARs, unzipping those, to get an ISO, mounting that, to copy the files to the installation place, twelve times!
I did that 6 times for Omnisphere and that took me 2 days lol, some fuckry shit waiting for it to unzip and copy.

oops got it wrong it's only 40GB, still big.
"Available Disk Space Required: 7GB to install all applications and required content, Additional 39GB to install all optional content (large content packages can be installed on separate disk), 10GB for Jam Pack collections – 16GB for sound effects – 6GB for surround music beds – 7GB for other optional content"
sounds sick man. i get what u say about it sounding too real, strings in grime have that synthetic feel to it. Guess its better suited to film scores and stuff.
i know what u mean about unziping a file and then its packed with like 20 other zip files, only to find u have to mount it as a disk, the whole process is long man. i did that with "waves" only to find it doesnt work on intel macs
LOL!:D

Not working after that is a PAR lol, or realising you don't have the password at some stage.
But yeah, I prefer the Orchestral/Nexus strings for Grime still ... I suppose if you cared enough, you could make a sick string part, export it and sample it to sound sick

Get me, I got it and it sat there for ages. Went and got a 500gb external specifically for synths and samples. Sick purchase, it's really nicely organised and shit now, works a treat.

Logic was about 6 discs iirc. Each dual layer dvd. I have all the discs on my computer as .iso's.
Oh, and fuck downloading something like Omnisphere off Rapidshare. I wouldn't even know where to start.

There's forums and sites with all the discs and files in a list, bang them into a download manager and you're cool. You just have to be on it as it drops otherwise they get locked off.

You dont experience any latency with your synths running off an external??

Not really, latency's more of a recording thing though anyway.
The only problem I did have was with multi instruments in Colossus, if you have too many and try to export them all at once, you get dropouts. Pretty sure that happened when it was on the local drive too though.
Not a problem either way as I solo everything to export for mixing.
