yeah vista's gui takes up too much processing power.. i usually end up turning themes and effects off and changing the wallpaper to blank which usually stops the glitches but after all that, overheating makes things worse lol

This is true, my Vista is set to run like Windows 95 visually

Also, I read that setting processing power to background processes did a lot for audio because most audio drivers are considered background processes.

As for you Tinman, be careful, I was gonna do this the very day I bought my Vaio, but I looked online and a few of the hardware things don't have drivers and aren't supported by XP. If you roll back, and it fails, you could end up seriously fucked.

What's a 16.4 saying for movement, is it heavy/bulky? Can you fit it in a standard backpack?

There's only been one synth that's been a par so far, went off the bottom of my screen. Watching video on that would be a bit better though still.

One downside would be that powerlight position though, allow watching a film in the dark and having a big green light right next to the screen. It's not even like them subtle TV ones, it's quite big?

for my work yes as I need to take it on site from time to time but for personal use or a normal office job there's not comparison imo.

For personal use, I find movement to be a lot. Depends where you live I guess, I can take it kitchen and use it while I cook if I want, or sit in front of the TV with msn on, and get notifications of new e-mails. Portable technology > static for me

its the hard-drive

Are you having teh same problem then???

I've tried a few of the standard vista tweaks in hope of making it run smooth but its still not perfect, which is pretty shit if you ask me. My desktop running XP runs like a beauty and specs are worse than my Vaio.

Anyone got any articles or tips on how to tweak vista for music production then?

There's bare, but I've done it and I find my Vaio much better than my old desktop of similar spec for music now.

Even if some of them sound weird, they make a lot of sense still. Go thru and try them all and see which works I guess.

Laptops are good for portability, but the option of being able to easily upgrade and add whatever to pc's >>>>>>>>>

Another thing with Laptops is when keys go missing from the keyboard and you have to press down hard on the space where they used to be.. a real par when using virtual keyboard in FL

I'm glad the other one got lost now, it was shit compared to this.
