Don't know if I'm behind everyone else on this but I just read Blackdown's like 2008 round up on here (http://blackdownsoundboy.blogspot.com/) and he mentions a Starkey ft. Durrty Goodz EP to be released on Keysound in 09. Does this mean they've done more tracks than just the gutter music vocal? If that's the case then it sounds big.

nah its gonna be the vocal, instrumental, and the vip, dunno if vip has goodz on tho

oh fair enough. It'll still be sick, but a full collab would have been next level.
gutter music vip >>> gutter music

and has a SICK video to it
note for grime artists. cheap video doesnt have to mean shit or ''hood'' video

yh that little video they put on vimeo was wicked actually, nicely produced.
look at goodz eyes lol when the camera does a close up of him spitting. they're HUGE.
just listening to that dubstep clash from mary anne hobbes last month with dusk + blackdown vs. ramadanman vs. geiom.
dusk and blackdown's remix of knife and gun by geeneus is on point

the trim track is wicked too, I think it's really original compared to what most mcs are putting out. The last track 'Focus' is absolutely hectic.

if guys like blackdown and logan were making music closely with artists there would be a lot more better music in this scene.

Producer driven Grime Music is the way forward
Andre

I think albums where artists choose one producer to collaborate with would be good. Non-grime examples are Clipse's first two releases, and the mixtape Radioclit have done with Esau Mwamwaya (to be followed by a full album in 09).

margins music is interesting
but i wdnt wanna hear everyone in grime doin tracks like that one with trim
its different, and well produced but its not as raw as a lot of grime
its more of a 'mature' vibe
blackdown n dusk wd be good exec producers or overseeers though
wdnt mind hearin more guys over starkey beats like the one with goodz tho
very big

I really like the Trim track tbh, I think that hype/greeze bars are good live or for a mixtape, but I prefer a mixture of tracks like concrete streets, and introspective, ambient tracks like the trim one for albums. The stuff the Bug did with Killa P and Flowdan is cool too.

That Trim track was shit
Andre
28th December '08, 03:40 PM
Why
leatherface
28th December '08, 03:42 PM
it sounded like some sort of ambient music you hear in chill out bars lol
trim was good on it tho
id like to hear trim on more than just hype tracks but i still dont think beats like the one with blackdown/dusk is exactly what he needs
imagine trim on beats like sittin here on dizzees first album
that wd be best
bugs album was half boring, half classic (the tracks with warrior queen and flowdan and killa p)
trim needs to work with some better producers really
Andre
28th December '08, 03:44 PM
that would be sick, sittin here is one of my favourite grime tracks, much better than this swagger bullshit
I still like the trim track, especially as part of the album as a whole.

28th December '08, 03:47 PM
or even beats like pick yrself up or chosen one
things like that wd be good
just cos youre doing introspective bars doesnt mean you cant have grime beats
trim is sick on the uptempo grime beats too though - he needs to still do those, maybe more of those cos a lot of his mix cds arent as good as they cd be
was listening to an old set the other day where he was on firefly and colder (and doneaos bounce!) and it sounded nuts
back to starkey tho lol
i swear a lot of the tracks on his album are just like grime around 2004

I like solid beats with rhythm..
Trim has an off beat random flow that is better suited to solid beats imo.
Without these it just sounds like a collarge of spoken words not anchored to any given rhythm, just causing confusion.
leatherface
28th December '08, 04:01 PM
thats true
his flow is pretty sprawled out
he needs some more rigid sounding beats to balance it out a bit
he needs to get on some dubstep soundin beats i swear
the good ones tho
some of the tracks he was flowin on when he was on blackdowns show is what i wanna hear from him

trim on kode9 is a lot
Andre
28th December '08, 04:18 PM
acutally wasn't kode9 I got confused, but Trim on dark dubstep is sick so Trim on Kode9 would be a lot.
And durrty goodz is better on more hype dubstep like starkey cos he's got a higher pitched voice.
Flowdan's deep voice sounds wicked on The Bug's productions. Enough about voice pitch anyways lol.
JACK
28th December '08, 06:45 PM
kode9 doesnt really do dark dubstep still
Andre
28th December '08, 06:51 PM
have you heard the stuff he's gonna be releasing in 09
Andre
28th December '08, 06:55 PM
I'd say his dubstep is pretty dark. depends what you compare it with I guess, but a lot of the stuff he did with spaceape wasn't exactly upbeat.
JACK
28th December '08, 06:56 PM
all the forthcoming hyperdub ones that i know of are either wonky (hate the name aswell), funkyish and just weird, like were used to see from him. still an utter badman tho.
Andre
28th December '08, 06:58 PM
you not like any wonky?
JACK
