After watching dubstep explode over the past few years and gettin proper frustrated at the lack of professional work rate and proper releases in grime I have decided to do something about it.
Can't release too many details right now as some partnerships are still being firmed up but we will do a full press release next month which I will post on here as well as circulate to relevant media.
We will be releasing mix cds and more importantly vinyl singles and eps with mp3 support.
We have several releases lined up but are looking for additional artists for inclusion in mix cds, line ups (for our already secured regular club night) and possible future releases.
We will be covering UKG, Grime, Bassline etc but please llow the hating, the label and entire project will have more than enough Grime to keep pure grime fans happy.
If you would like to be involved please get in touch.
2008 is going to be a big year for Grime.

I tried to attempt this and got nowhere. You obviously sound more successful so good luck to you and its nice to see positive steps in grime.

I am in exactly the same boat as you, I was a big grime head got into dubstep as it was going from strength to strength, while still keeping an eye on the grime scene. then got properly back into grime not long ago around the time people first started saying Grime Is Dead, so i can see what some of the problems are.
I would love to be involved if it is possible, pm me

To me Grime is just new UKG (dont really need this to turn into an e-argument) and sameway with dubstep so I been watchin them both since day.
Just crazy how dubstep seems to have taken most of the positive people and i know bare people makin power moves where as Grime has lacked a single label, run professionally, to raise profile of its artists and the scene. Thats what we wanna try fix with this.
Tru-G - safe for the support, what you do?

Coming from Uptown i can tell you the scene has suffered immensly from the lack of Vinyl and pushing of single tracks. Mixtapes are all good, but are killing the scene at the same time. Because without Vinyl or singles, theres no DJ to play them, no DJs means no music getting pushed. And trust me when i say, DJs do NOT want to play mixtape tracks on there sets.
If your interested in exclusives or anything else to do with Uptown email me jenai@uptownrecords.com

Safe Jenai, will definitely be in touch when the time comes. Not too on exclusives for time but am very on building strong links with the important independents to push pre release promos etc. Totally agree bout the vinyl comments.

Safe people. It needs to be done. Question tho...
Who do you think is makin tunes that would benefit from seein vinyl. I rated bare stuff last year but alot of it was grime for bumpin at hom eor on ipod, not really tings that fuck up a dance like it used to be.
I been wonderin why this is one of the reasons people arent releasin vinyl - cos its more vocal and deep and less hype?
What you think?

the wrong tunes get pressed up on vinyl somtimes (e.g cablestreet). People are to ambitious aswell. just because there tunes getting played on rinse it dosnt mean they are going to sell loads.
also people need to do what mister slash did. NOt send his tunes to any DJs and just release the vinyl.
plus, why cant people get there vinyl in HMV? they get CDs in there. Dubstep gets vinyl in HMV

We are talkin to a few distribution people that do bare dubstep but does depend on what shops want to stock grime still. And yeah, truesay gettin artist who aint put all their tunes up for free download on Myspace etc is long. People really need to understand that from time they do that it cant really see vinyl release.
I aint doin this to make mad money but I aint got stupid P to throw away either!

the big HMV in oxford street has a section called Dubstep/Grime yet it is filled with dubstep. I think most shops would still stock grime if they actualy had any to stock.
