1. Knife

Untitled opens up the mixtape with this banger from Rude Kid. It’s called knife and tells the story of a North London youth, who gets involved with gangs and knife crime. In the end the kid dies sending a chilling message to those under peer presure with Untitled showing an art of storytelling, kind of reminding me of a late 80’s/early 90’s Slick Rick. Overall 7.10.

2. Stress

Wasn’t overley amazed by this one, the chorus was too much of a jar and ruined a nice production from Pitstop. Flow was a bit dodgy on this one and why are all these artists slagging off Nando’s chicken??? Anyway not a great tune. Overall 4.10

3. You Don’t Know (Feat Rampage)

A big improvement from the last track, this one’s not exactly a banger but i’ll be playing this one a lot. A J Beatz production (you may recognise that name from the Wrecth 32 album), Untitlted does well to get his no nonsense message across, without over-hyping on the mic. Overall 7.10.

4. Be Alright

This one is a perfect storytelling tune, going back to my further point on Rick The Ruler. Here he (Untitled) tells the story of when he got ran over during a late dash to school. He teaches here to be positive, he didn’t think he would make it through the pain but he is here now with his mixtape. Kanye West ring a bell?? Nevertheless a nice production from 9town, haven’t heard of him before but this production shows talent. Seems Untitlted is pushing them up and coming producers. Overall 9.10.

5. Mind Up

Nice tune about making your mind up on a club night. Also brings up the interesting point about too many youngers in clubs they shouldn’t be in, which is right as well!! Moony on the production provides a great backing to some nice vocals. Overall 6.10.

6. Raindrops

A shorter tune, but too full effect. A soft production, i’m letting this one just flow through the earphones. Another positive message in the form of careful driving and talks about his girlfriend. “Thats stupid/Like me doing a rubix/that’s already been completed” Nice!! 64 bars of bliss here, big up to Silkie on the production. Overall 7.10

7. Alchi

Well the positive messages keep on coming, and this is one of my favourite tunes on the project. It’s about alcholics who managed to change they’re lives and this brings back the storytelling element. Between each verse he speaks on how they changes they’re lives and gave a shout to AA (Alcholoics Anonymous). I think I liked this song ‘cos it was relevant I suppose and the production was on point from Rude Kid. Could’ve been a bit longer I think but then again it was short and sweet. Overall 9.10.
8. Why Pretend

I was laughing at this song “If you’re content with eating pizzas that can be found in the store called Aldi’s/Then i can’t be around you Cant understand why you walk so prudly”. Ha ha. Real talk on this track, with plenty more lines where that one came from. Moony was alright on the production not amazingly great. Reminded me of tons of people listening to this one. Overall 6.10.

9. Councils

Must give a shoutout to up and coming producer Zdot. He’s doing a lot at the moment. This tune is very true, it’s basically saying F**K you to the council and rightly so. “Theieving Mugs” just one of the tirades he chucks at them, covering topics such as Credit Crunches and Parking Fines. (I hate Fucking parking wardens). A nice production and an on point topic. Overall 9.10.

10. Euthanasia

This tune shows how talented and intellugent Untitled is as a lyricist as well as an Mc. He speaks on Euthanasia (Helping someone to die un-naturally through their request). He questions whether it’s right or wrong and gives more than the one point of view. I’m starting to sound like an English teacher marking an essay, but this is like an essay merely spat onto this SRC beat. Overall 8.10.

11. Don’t Love You (Feat. Kelsey)

Another softer, more relaxed tune. Wonderful singing feature provided by Kelsey, shows a soft and meaningful side to Untitled, this mixtape is really appealing to me so far. G Major comes with a soothing production and this tune just does all the talking. Overall 7.10.

12. Fed Up

When the intro came on, I thought i had turned on Rollin’ (Stryder) by accident. But Zdot switched it up, and provides a more banger like tune for Untitled. Much like You Don’t know, he manages to make his point, talking about making music and bragging about his cash, without hyping it to much. I wanna see this guy on sets ASAP!!! Overall 8.10.

13. The Truth

I’m unsure about this one. Sounds like the producer A2 has used a Dot Rotten sample on this one’s production. It could just be me though!!! “Who makes emotional grime/They’ve all got Devlin on their mind/But when I right my bars i’ve tears falling down my eyes./ True point made their by Untitled when you think of slower, more emotional grime tunes, for me, Devlin’s Art Of Rolling E.P. springs straight to mind. But if untitled carries on with the way he’s going he could well replace Devs as the more conceptual, emotional artists. Overall 6.10.

14. He Wants

This one kind of reminds me off N-Dubz tunes I swear and Ouch. the topic is about partners cheating, however Untitled takes the concept further and deeper and talks about the Woman getting pregnant and the Real dad wanting to get away. hence the title. Nice Viller Dee production as well. Overall 8.10.

15. Packed Lunch

Ha, when I first saw this title i was like what? A tune about sandwiches and Capri Suns??? But no this one is quite afar from that. Much like the earlier tune “Councils”, this one picks out all them things about the credit crunch etc but this one is much more directed towards the mayor and the government. With this tune I just can’t help but nod my head in a yes type fashion after hearing all the points Untitled makes in this truthful and realisitc insight to the streets of England. Overall 8.10.

16. Music (Feat. Evolver & Messy)

The final tune on the mixtape, and it’s terrific. A fantastic way to sign off, with two string feautures in the form of Evolver and Messy. the production from Troublesoem is a lot and bang on point. Overall 7.10.

17. Outtakes

Does what it says on the tin really. Overall 0.0

Summary

Untitled is one of the grime scenes finest fresh, new, up and coming artists and this 17 track strong mixtape proves just that. Tunes like “Knife” and “Be Alright” show an insightful, storytelling side to the Mc whereas tracks like “Fed Up” and “You Don’t Know” show a more louder, exciting side. This mixtape is a definite for all grime fans and one of the best things to come out of 2008. If you don’t grab this then your a complete fool. I hope to see this guy across radio soon, i can’t see why he can’t pop into Logan or Westwood once in a while to show a wide audience what he can do. His use of up and coming producers such as Zdot and moony is mixed with productions from the likes of Rude Kid and Viller Dee.

Overall:

No. Of Tracks: 17

No. Of Tracks 5.10+: 15

Productions (Out Of 10): 8

Originality/Bars/Flow (out Of 10) : 10

Total (Out Of 20): 18.
Peace.

No digital downloads for the time being my good friend but hopefully that will be resolved in the next month or so.

If you can get the extra £2 you can get the physical, which will be alot nicer than the digital download
