I've noticed that this doesn't really happen nowadays which is a shame as it does make some great tunes. The zumpi huntah remixes by DOK & Swindle are both classics in their own right. Past remixes such as davinche frontline, terror danjah poltergeist & Dok DTI are all big tunes.I think this is something producers should do more of.

I agree, there were a few bad ones though.

I'm still trying to track down a Creeper remix I heard 4 - 5 years ago, Escobar tears a little bit of it up before the next tune drops.

JME remixed North London and it was swag. Doesn't always work. Devlin's War Report was over a refix of Xtra as well, forget who by.

/\ This.

Nuff remixes in Grime. What you probably mean Webstarr is that there aren't enough good remixes in Grime.

Bare remixes or refixes of other producers' tracks in Funky (it's all one big circle innit).

haven't heard anyone say someone remixes too much in production terms in grime.

I think something like rudekid - the best is a prime candidate for a grime remix

I liked JMEs north london. The devlin one was over the xtra remix by rapid. Its more of a VIP mix tbh

I can only think of four grime remixes from different producers from 2008 (swindle - zumpi huntah, skeptas version of the jay sean track, DOK - one blood & nocturnal - the real best). I just think its nice to hear a different take on a track once in a while

Years back they would be official remixes that would be released on the same vinyl, then it turned into something different.

I don't think I've heard many remixes that were any good. Its probably because there ain't much point in remixing a song in the same genre.

Producers do sometimes get aggro (normally from other producers) when they remix something, I remember remixing one of my own tunes, I sent it to someone and they were like why you have to remix other people tunes for, be original, I told him 'Fam I produced the original' anyway thats my story lol.

I didn't think their weren't enough remixes out though :S

obviously not much skill goes into making them but like you say they where very popular back then

tunes like bongo eyes, endz vip's etc, i got one sick black ops megamix i used to batter to death lol

Steez

Endz VIPs used to be so sick for sets though ... because the bootlegs were all about the main stabs being smashed as many times into a bar as they could be. Extra hype.

you know what i think thats why dot rottens beats where so popular when he came out with tunes like bazooka and all them crazy ones, they sound like a normal beat thats been chopped up and re-looped by a mad man lol

Dot Rotten's got a sick way of producing and yea. He focuses on a key element and layers the fuck out of it. Proper sick producer.
