Ive got a set of the diamond 8.2's that i use to reference with at times.

used them in several different environments and i've found there a brilliant all round crystal sounding set of monitors id recommend them.

Very clear, deep bass, and you can pick out frequencies perfectly.

Probably gonna sound incredibly dumb now, but ive never understood why the term monitors is used to describe certain speakers???

they dont change any of the frequencies so you get a better representation of whats actually coming out of your pc.

Snowman how do the krks rp5 g2 hold up to these? is it worth the extra 80-100 quid?

The new KRK's are excellent and especially so because of their price range. IMO.

Would it be worth shellin out extra p to get the krks, rather than the wharfdales? If they are similar in performance, Ill keep my money, but if they are in different leagues, might aswell init:?

Keep your money.

unless your buying KRK r8 its pointless.

the krk r5's sound more low range heavier than the diamonds.

but as an overall mix/master clarity of monitor get the diamonds there a bargain righ now £170? i paid £350 like two yrs ago for mine.

Wharfedale diamonds are amazing little speakers. I wouldn't use them as main monitors becaude they have a more 'hi-fi' sound, but they are great a a second reference. I use Mackie MR8s and Whafedale Diamond ( think they are 7.1 ) and an original pair of Diamonds.

I've used KRK rp5s, they are fine, but I reckon you're best off buying the whafedales for now ( which you have ) and get some different monitors as a second reference in the future
