would this be any good as my first production tool? or is there a better one for around £200.
need to get reason 4 as well and a decent pc/mac for around £600 (for the computer). does anyone know the best one for under that price and where to get it from?
http://www.htfr.com/more-info/MR235373
also instead of buying monitors can i get some decent headphones that will do the job just as good?
just bought a couple of music tech mags as guidance, ones specially for reason. are there any other must haves for a starter producer?

ermm, i wouldnt spend on that.
get a normal midi keyboard, plug into reason, use reason inbuilt sounds, and download keyboard Wavs, or reason pack things.
download reason 4 that will save some money aswell.
£600 will get u a v.good computer. jst get good soundcard aswell and some monitor speakers.

Save some money and get one like this:http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/shop/flypage/product_id/21213
This would be perfect if your starting out and would have more sound range with the more keys it's got.

I agree you probably don't need all the functions of the more expensive one
this one also gets good reviews: http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product.asp?id=5023
if you just want pads and a few knobs & sliders then get an akai MPD 24

Truthfully from somebodys who spend 2-3k+ on buying stuff, then using it,then getting more stuff.
keep it really simple...
If this machine your getting is something that you want to keep for a long time, and updgrade now and again..
then get a £400 pc,and upgrade as you go along.
You can just an axiom keyboard or a standard m-audio keyboard
i would personally get as many keys as you can for as less as you can...
Reason 4 is def a great package
but also get something that you can rewire too it, like a daw like fl studio or cubase...
If ur feeling rich then get a macbook, mini, imac and download the programs and get a cheap midi keyboard
If u want to get a nice laptop to make music on (i use my old £400 laptop on reason, thats worth £300, and i can use reason with no problem)
ide personally get a pc if your on a budget, at least quardcore amd or intel...
or even a nice laptop, that will be really handy and powerful
both can be in the £400-500 range.
and settle for a << £100 keyboard

most people buy their keyboards from places like: Dolphin music,DV247,Inta Audio. and they have the option to leave reviews by people.

pc world isint a good place for PCs. 1. they know nothing about PCs if you go to the store 2. there overpriced.
go to ebuyer to get your pc. or get someone to build it for you. If you want get someone to get mac compatible hardware so you can install mac os x and windows on the same pc, that way you can see what you prefer or use both

i was suggesting pc world,as some of the stuff is ok for the price and its high street, you should see argos and stores like that lol
Agreed about the mac compatible pc, i mean you can get a blueray laptop with 3 gig of ram and and decent graphics card for £500
but apple sell you a normal dvd drive with those awful integrated graphics card for £800 with less ram..hmmm

i would say, bearing in mind that you will need this machine for the later versions
dual core (laptop) Quadcore or dual core for pc (quadcore will make it more future proof) 2ghz
2-4 gb ram
200gb harddrive (suggesting you upgrade it to a 7200rpm drive, when u have the money)
graphics inbuilt would have to be a HD3200 or a Nvdia 8400, just for the fact that new graphics interfaces and visual stuff come along and ur fucked with a integrated x3100 lol

This one is perfect IMO and its a brand
The £499.99 one
includes blueray and a 7200rpm drive (that drive speed is important) also the graphics card is alot better than the other pcs mentioned before
