have you automated the volume of the bassline against the kick so it there is less of a clash of frequencies?

The basslines sick anyhow, just need some more hats

Try compression or eq the kick n bass, so they are not on the same frequencey n dont clash.

Bass is alot tho, nice beat.

^^^This

Try turning your whole mix down a few dB then copy and split your kicks into frequencies i.e.

1. One Kick has the low end (Sub).

2. One Kick has the knock (front end).

Do this with the bass sound if need be as well, split them into lows and high's then push the high bass so you can hear the notes clearly on small speakers and then ride up the sub/lows as much as you can before distortion.

Compression is really helpful at this stage, but you must be mind full of losing bass also.

I prefer compressing the sub part of the bass and then EQing after to make back some of the bass I've lost.

I also like setting the kick and bass to an aux and gently compressing them after so their controlled (buss compression).

I personally like using "Waves C4, R-Compressor and R-Bass" for these duties.

*Hope this helps*

another thing i do with my kicks & snares is copy them and compress the shit out of the copied one, then mix it back in with the original to give it that extra thud without losing the top end

A trick for stopping the kick drum and bass from clashing and distorting without EQing, is to use a sidechain compression on the bass.

Set up a track with just a kick drum on it which mirrors what the kick is doing in the main track. Mute this track.

Set up a compressor on the bass channel - try a ratio of about 4:1 and a threshold about -12dB - or enough so that there is decent gain reduction, fastish attack and release

Set the compressor's side chain input to the kick drum audio channel ( the muted one )

Now the bass track will be compressed only when the kick drum sounds, which will reduce it's gain with a ducker effect. By messing around with the threshold, ratio, attack and release, you can give the kick drum more space without any noticeable ducking of the bass.

yeah thats what i do when i can actually be bothered.

reduce the swell slightly on the snare and increase the level of the bass drum
increase the filter of the bass and redce its level slightly
drum mostly should be subtly louder than bass

Just add a multiband compressor to your kicks or bassline
if your using fruity
and increase or decrease the threshold until u clear the distortion
:)
Hope it helps

Good placement when drum programming and separating your bass frequencies so you can control them individually with compression.

Bass is the biggest sound wave, so it needs "space"..

1. If you have an 808 type kick try not to play a "Sub" bass as well as they are both essentially synths.

2. If you want a weighty "Bass line" have a kick with less weight that has front.

3. If you want a weighty "Kick" trim some of the "Bass Line" to make room.
