D-Structo reminded me about this Neeko tune from years back called 'Skeng', throughout the tune he told a story but personfied the gun into being a woman.

It got me thinking how over the years 'Road Talk' hasn't INCREASED it has just become more BLATENT

Just like Ruff Squad's 'Tings In Boots' at the time that was released, bare little kids were boppign round singing that tune without knowing what the 'tings' in their boots were

Only time I have seen this recently is Beezy (OT) done a tune called 'When Des Met Tone' at first you think it is just about a couple men meeting but you don't find out till halfway through the song that
Des = Desert Eagle
Tone = Tony Blair

Seeing as, for some strange reason, artists are always wanting to go mainstream I don't understand why they don't do road talk just more subtly...

For example anyone remember that song

The chorus goes 'lick you boom boom down' and is about shooting an snitch

That song got to number 1

Riko saying the same thing in 'all informer fa diggy diggy dead!'

will not get to number 1

That Snow song came out at a time when the whole country was going nuts for the reggae sound even if it was a bait Canadian Gang banger singing it. It was just right place right time kind of thing.
And I doubt many people that bought the track knew what the fuck he was saying at the time.

I usually agree but but its getting to the point where nobody is coming out with something fresh

I rate road talk from about 3 artists nowadays cos otherwise its all the same to me

Also i do like some road talk like scorcher back inna the day but alot of it gets boring. I find it alot more ineresting when artists do it on the sly coz it makes the lyrics deeper n u listen harder to figure the links. Like how Nas tune 'i gave you power' where he personifys the gun. Its clever lyrics.

Plus u really think a major is gunna sign someone who is always sprayin 'shank shank bang bang' the whole time?
