Podcasts are like buses. One comes along and then suddenly another one appears. Fortunately for you guys, you can board both buses, so thats a bonus. Some excellent grimey instrumentals selected from Scratcha who tells us how much he is ‘enjoying’ this set and some heavy bars from the massively under rated Faction G.

While your listening, check out this interview with Faction G. Big up all the guys at One Away Music, great effort.
Faction G is back, after releasing his mixtapes The Fact Remains & Facts Not Fiction along with two free downloads Matter Of Fact 1 & 2. I caught up with Faction G after he recorded the first Grime Network podcast exclusively for Oneaway Music.com to find out about his career and Committee Recordings.
For people unfamiliar with you and your music, what are you about?
I am a Grime MC turned artist who is trying to cater for the Grime fan who wants music with a bit of depth and substance. I am not trying to achieve that by being preachy or self righteous just by attempting to be real, original and interesting.
What projects can we expect from Faction G in the future?
I am in the early stages of putting together what I hope will be my debut album, by that I mean I want it to be good enough for me to openly say “I put everything into this and I am 100% happy and proud to say this album represents me…Faction G”. I want my album to be a whole piece of work, with each track perfectly linking to the next, which is not trying to cater to typical requirements i.e. “the club track” or “the girl’s song”. I am just going to make the music I like and if it ticks said boxes then great.
In the meantime you should be seeing the release of Scratcha’s DVA project entitled “No Right Turn”, which is something that I am very excited to say I have been involved in. I don’t want to say too much about this because it’s not really my place to but I will say that this is going to be something else. It’s a real throwback to the innovative UK Grime to emerge out of 02/03 and even beyond…to the roots of Grime – D&B, breakbeat, Jungle, Ragga and Hip Hop.
What producers are you working with on the album?
On my album I will have production from Scratcha, Sully, Bless Beats, Dr Venom and T Star. It’s still early stages but the beats in my email inbox can confirm these 5 are definitely onboard.
What’s going on with Committee Recordings?
Committee Recordings is still there. It’s a means of releasing music independently. As far as other artists linked to us… Snipe .G, Blay Z, T Star they are doing there thing and expect to see new material in 09.
Tell us about your jobs at Columbia Records & Asylum Records?
Basically I was destined to a life working in the construction industry doing bullshit jobs for rubbish pay (which I did for 8 years) when I started getting the taste for success in the music industry with Committee Recs I thought hang on a minute. A thousand job applications later and I somehow managed to land myself an internship in Columbia Records A&R department, big up Nick Huggett and everyone at Music4Good, unfortunately they were unable to offer me a permanent job so queue another thousand job applications and finally an opportunity at Asylum Records(home to Wiley, Ironik, Kid Sister etc) from there I managed to get to where I am now “Atlantic Records A&R assistant”. Music definitely pays my bills
