yeah that was poor. It really can't be that hard to make a half decent looking video on a budget. Need to hook up with some film students and get use of expensive equipment on the cheap.
It's an interesting concept tho, just maybe a bit ambitious

I agree with breathe, the vid looks super-cheap. I dunno why someone who goes on about how much cash he has all the time would come with something like this. People in the scene need to branch out and approach directors who are making fresh vids, instead of relying on the same old tired formula.

There's another thread active at the moment about MCs who contradict themselves in songs so I think this ties in a bit:
Skepta "There's no swear words on this album!"
approximately 50 seconds later "Oh shit Rah"

My estimation of skepta has gone up ten fold for that video!
It was the best tune of last yr n the only one rated off his album n he done a sick vid to compliment it. One of the best vids i seen too.

For someone who claims to be top of the game, I'd expect them to want to put out a quality product. This wouldn't stand up next to anything on tv, beyond channel U waste.

That Mercston and Ghetto video was actually SICK. Best Grime video for me, if not then top 3. (I mean top 3 videos, not Top 3 Selected - wack video)
Edit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wgqah8Lz1v8
Apart from the no energy from Mercston. Come to think of it, re-listening to this track this was a BIG TUNE RUDEBOY

It was the KERSAL MASSIVE. The "persil massive" thing was a remix of the kersal massive.
Shut up Taz lol

If you're saying this video sets the standard for grime, then you have hit the pipe one too many times. Granted, there haven't been many good videos of late (probably due to the "hood vid" thing that everyone seems to be doing as an excuse to not spend P on their promotional material), but that doesn't make them good. When I see a video, I dont want it to be "good for a grime video", I wanna see a GOOD VIDEO full stop. Accepting waste like this is just like buying a CD with a photocopied sleeve and going "well, it's okay, coz it's grime and no-one has a budget". It's not good, it's not okay and it's taking the scene nowhere. This looks like it was edited by someone in pre-school.

Pre school is going a bit far, there are some good scenes in it in my opinion, its a step in the right direction but everything else you say is correct.

Yes, exaggeration in the last line aside, I think the point still stands. Instead of waving that money in the vid, why not spend it on fixing up and producing something which people might go "rah, this grime guy is big, sweet vid", instead of "oh, channel u fodder" *locks off*?

Three kids who entered a freestyle comp by 679 records to win a Kano BMX. It made it to the internet and the remix phenomenon caught up with it.
Believe it or not, skepta actually sampled their voices and stuck them on the in a corner beat on his myspace time before we even heard the album version.
Skepta was late tho, there were hundreds of remixes on youtube before his popped up.

But the font at the start looks swag
The club looks dead
Y are there no girls in the vid - just loads of men dancing around
The edititing is pretty poor
I imagine they r similar budgets and Roll Deep celebrate video>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Inna Corner video.

Fuck the equipment
I'm not denying that experience and knowledge are priceless, but cheap equipment is blatantly obvious on film unless you cover it with filters.
Watch this video/ any budget video compared to one where money's been spent and the image quality is miles apart. I think it makes a massive difference to the viewing experience.
You can't hold wads of cash in a video that looks like it was filmed on a phone cam

I'm just bored of "i am standing in the club". That was played out when US rappers did it and they had Hype Williams budgets.
Not that I have any better ideas. Get some film school kids on it, they'd be cheap as chips anyway
Must say though, the song's sick still. I do think that album's going to click with me one day and I'll actually like it all. Hasn't happened yet though.
