Where would grime be? Pluses being myspace/youtube promotion, minuses being bootlegging etc. Imo I couldn't see grime being as big as it is atm without it, but also people might have sold a few more unit's due to no bootlegging.

Would be dead tbh...

Fuck the bootlegging, half the listeners wouldn't be able to buy the music anyway because they live outside London.

Would be dead probably, the bootlegging point is a good one but there would be such little knowledge of grime that not many people would want it anyway lol.

Doubt it would be dead still.

If anything the internet gave it appeal to more and more people which has changed the scene slightly.

Although RWD was around in 2003.

What I was thinking. I first got into "grime" as such(though it wasn't called that back then) thru seeing more fire crew on top of the pops, living out of london I wasn't really exposed to much more grime bar a few tracks now and then until around 2003 ish when BIDC dropped.

Financially no.
Musically, I might, just might agree with you.

I'd probably say musically it would be in a better state. A lot more radio would be done for promotion etc.

Presuming pirates were still going and playing grime, i think it'd be better off.
'Where would grime be without initial media hype?' is better maybe.

it wouldn't be here but if it was to survive without internet it would be all a road thing
