well the only advice i can give, is maybe stick to one or two synths and really get to know them...maybe spend a couple days just making new sounds and saving them so u can come back to them at a later date to use in ur tunes.

My advice is to "STOP LISTENING TO GRIME" for a while and take in loads of different genre's.
Start learning how to make other music in turn this should broaden your horizons and make you come back to Grime with a fresh angle and a new set of skills.
Dont keep looking towards the Wileys and Maniac's etc as it's just the blind leading the blind.

^^^True.
If you keep questing to find the origins of each sound you'll be able to manipulate techniques that have been long forgotten ,but make up the DNA of the music your participating in now..
Every time music progresses to the next phase something gets lost in translation, so I make it my business to understand where things came from and why, so they can then be re-introduced as "NEW" hence the name: Retrofreak
