View Full Version : Should Mcs Vocal Lesser Known Producers Beats More Often?

I look at loads of mixtapes and it always seems to be that its the same old producers, i aint hating because there all sick but i would rather here more of a variety of producers instead of the same old people lyk wiley, scorcher, skepta, jme, maniac, rapid, bless beats, y.wizz, merlin.

I think more other producers should be given a chance to showcase there music instead of just the same ones, theres probably even producers on here who have good enough beats to be vocalled.

Perhaps if there was more competition the levels would raise again, hopefully footsie, target, danny weed and jammer will also come with more bigger beats this year aswell.....

Yeah I think they should.

.

Similar sounding beats on everyones mixtapes isnt saying alot, theres alot of good unknown producers on myspace that are making beats, that could have SONG bars dropped on them. But i dont really think many unknown/new producer really know how to make hype beats that could be dropped in a set.

unknown producers need recognition but artists feel with Wiley or Jme's name on a track its gonna sell, or be liked more, even when the beats shit.

im sure theres a couple mc's that wud give any beat a listen if u mail em, doogz almost vocaled one of my mates tunes, he jus said make a minor change to the drums and he'll spit on it.

[my mate lost the original reason file so he cudnt do much besides remake it, even then its not the same but he's on it 4 da future.]

defintley, un recognised producers need to push der stuff out der, not jus rely on myspace tho

Demos
18th January '08, 11:15 PM
yeah as long as they're good.

i feel MCs are lazy when searching for beats, they go to the same producers, its fucking boring now hearing the same producers on every mixtape, this is one of the reasons i liked Axiom EP, goodz didnt go to the usual producers for beats

18th January '08, 11:19 PM
Aslong as the tunes are of a good quality (mixdown wise as well as actual composition) I feel its a good move.

The thing about grime ... is that no one wants to help people.

im not saying dey SHOULD help but if a guy dont have a big name but made a banger of good quality then da tune should be made sumin of, its ashame when beats like that aint.

only if their beats deserve to be vocalled

but yeah if there's enough good unknown producers out there then of course they should be getting offers from bigger MCs to vocal their tracks, add some variety

19th January '08, 12:39 AM
Mc's should vocal anything that's big regardless of status in the scene.

I don't think its a case of mc's only favouring certain producers beats, its more the fact that lesser known producers aren't getting their material out far enough coz if they were they would surely get vocalled if the beat is good enough.

The thing is with unknowns is that there's soooo many of them and filtering the true wannabes to the potential successes is too time consuming...especially when your Internet runs at just above 56k speeds. :@

And sometimes its long to find good up and comers but true say thats what this thread is for.

If you have a big tune, and say you have no name it will get picked up for sure.

No MC in this scene can afford to overlook a big tune.

2004/5 the scene was on lock down, you needed a name but nowadays if you have a bag of tunes you can make a name for yourself overnight.

wouldnt be lesser known then would they?
if wiley spits on a a lesser known producers beat they go big and the same questions comes up again.

I know what you mean.
But thats just how it works.

Maniac for example.

I just think MC's should always be looking out for the next big thing. or looking for something that no one else has used.

Theres always that 14 year old guy from somewhere you have never heard of with 3 shit tracks and 1 massive track.

If the beat is good and on point then yes

The reason grime isnt going anywhere at the moment is because no one wants to help eachother out (i.e. collabs etc)

people are jus parring eachother and sending

if everyone was to help eachother grime would grow alot faster and could go mainstream!

it would make sense for the mc as they wudnt need to pay as much for the beat (if it was royalty free)

Back in the days of 2004-2006 when we was making mostly grime, found it really hard to get collabs cracking with Mc's (big or fairly unknown but still good) other than local 1's in the essex area, had alot of heads saying they would vocal a certain track, but hardly any actualty got recorded. Our beats were far from the best but at the time sum were defo on par with alot of tracks we was hearing gettin alot of radio play, etc. Music is a funny old bizzness to be in but ya gotta love it, defo think the struggle of rising thru the ranks makes it more statisfing.

I think if the beats big, and it makes a big song it shouldn't really matter who produced it, but i know how the industry works and how established the producer is can affect sales so artists usually go with what will sell more
