I am seriously worried about our club now coz if rvp leaves and we don't get champions league I don't see how we can improve the team as we won't attract the players.

How we r 3 weeks into the transfer wimps with no new striker or full backs is a testament to thei ambitions and money making goals.

Wengers management skills today were a joke bringing our best player off. Has he given an excuse for it yet ?

Where's Gervinho been he looks quite sick

In Africa, he needs to assist more and start taking his chances when they come. Hes had a lot of criticism but hes a constant threat and thats something Walcott isnt right now. Theos just played Fulham, Swansea and United and I can just about give him a 6/10 rating in one of them, the rest lower.

I'm not having that. Spurs fans rated him, especially as he started fantastically initially.

Everyone jumped on the "he hasn't won a league game thing", I remember defending him on here - that was through a period when we were shit, he was always a promising player.

Redknapp was supposed to be selling him to Forest the January we finished 4th, and then Benny got injured. I think its fair to say he didn't rate him.

Wenger

I can understand that the fans are upset about the substitutions especially when it doesn’t work. But it means I made the right decision before the game in starting him though,” said Wenger. “He was starting to tire. He has a tight calf and anyway Arshavin is captain of the Russian national team and you have to justify replacing him with a guy of 18 years old who is playing his second or third game, are you serious?
“We have to accept that fans have their views. I don’t want to come out on every reaction. I have to stand up for my decisions and I do. I am 30 years in this job and have made 50,000 substitutions and I don’t have to justify all of them.”

“We lose together and we win together. I will not blame single players if that is what you expect me to do. If I make a mistake I am sorry. I am like a player, I make mistakes.”

“It leaves us in a very difficult position,” admitted Wenger. “We couldn’t afford to lose but there were a lot of positives. The reaction in the second half was good.
“We have some players to come back in the next month and that will make a difference. We have 10 players out and people forget that.”

RVP done what all quality strikers do, brushed off the miss and scored later on you cant take the best striker in the world for some Torres

If the game ended 1-0 maybe it would have been important but now that miss will be forever forgotten as it beared no relevance to the game anymore

Do you honestly believe that? Fergie says it but other teams seem to find value out there.

Surprised Newcastle managed to get Tiote, Cabaye and Cisse when Wenger normally loves going for players in the French league.

Tiotes decent, havent seen this Cisse play and I like Cabaye but if Diaby and Wilshere were playing this year it wouldnt be an issue.

Right now anyone we would bring in wouldnt even be in the top 10 of our desired targets and i dont want that.

It would be stupid to, in Jan players are either playing well (Demba Ba) and dont want to move and mess it up or they're not (Arshavin) and would rather try and fight their way into teams and leave int he summer if not. Making it even harder this year its a tournament year so (Hazrd, Gotze, Podolski etc dont want to move and mess up their form).

None of the top teams/managers really reckon with the january transfer window anymore if you check it, its only clueless fans shouting sign sign sign but ask them and they havent got a clue who they could bring in

You have a good time bro?

you don't understand that game was fucking crazy. The atmosphere in the 2nd half was electric and I felt like I was going to have a heart attack because we didn't take our chances and Arsenal kept pushing back. When Welbeck scored and came towards us that was brilliant the emotions were running high and it made me realise again how much I love United. Everyone battled today and we deserved the 3 points, Evra best LB in the prem come at me bros, Nani showing his quality and Valencia showing how a WINGER should play you hear that Theodore?

Wenger tho lululululul when he brought on Arshavin for Chamberlain I knew we'd win the game, anyone with common sense would've pulled off Walcott, Chamberlain was your biggest threat and he had the assist for the goal yet he got pulled off, cool managing Wenger.

Getting tickets for our game against City Inshallah we'll ride out on them. GLORY, GLORY MAN UNITED!!!!

Re: Diaby. He was a good player (if inconsistent and, for all his size, some times surprisingly soft). It's highly unlikely at this point he'll return fully, and if he does who's to say he'll be anything like the same player. Look at Rosicky, he adds nothing now.

I was actually at the game he got his ankle broke. Henry was awful, and still scored two. That's the difference with this Arsenal side, no one takes responsibility for anything (especially defending).

Cool.

But on Diaby, I remember hearing a Times podcast and their French correspondant (who is supposedly a close friend of Diaby), didn't seem to be too hopeful about him returning. That first tackle at Sunderland appears to have genuinely fucked his ankle.

see, this is where you ("you" being Gooners) go wrong. Don't compare your season to ours or anyone else's, compare it to what you believe Arsenal should be achieving. Currently, you cannot say that you are performing and achieving the way Arsenal should.

People want to see new faces but only if they contribute something. Sadly, almost none of the your "new faces" over the last 7 years have been particularly effective for you and thus the frustration because, naturally, fans will associate that with your lack of trophies.

We're level on points with Arsenal. If they continue with performances like this and our form continues then we could easily get that 4th place spot. Europa League is more realistic though, just don't know whether Wenger can keep the dressing room together any longer.

really think its quite harsh to blame the defeat on arshavin and perhaps wenger. chamberlain was going to fade if he really was sick the other day. the way he played you couldnt really expect him to last the full 90 because he was doing everything. yeah, arshavin wasnt very effective in preventing the united winger getting into the box but he's not a full back. really, where was your right back to provide some support?

and, even then, the one's you had available at full back were not even full backs so they aren't totally to blame either. the lack of options and a lack of depth to your squad is the reason you lost today. but, to be honest i think you played quite well considering the whole set of circumstances. if you play like that, with wilshere returning and chamberlain in that kind of form, you'll be just fine at the end of the season

It's gonna take time for me to forgive man for that and i never want to see Arshavin in an Arsenal top again, he's a small lazy good for nothing prick.

Djourou aka The Black Squidworth needs to go as well, he was useless first half. When he put his arms around his back basically allowing Nani a free kick in the box to assist the goal instead of going for a tackle or even running at him just defined his half, what a real life fuck boy kmt

Would actually say that Parker is better than Tiote, but I wouldn't compare those 2 anyway because their playstyles are slightly different IMO. I said Ben Arfa > Lennon if he plays on the wing, but he actually plays a free role in midfield as an architect tbh. If he starts more often he's going to be devastating the rest of the season, keep an eye on him. Watch this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZMAidlWNdWw)

Best is actually a good striker aswell though, just have to look at the goal he scored against QPR

But yeah no way am I going to argue our overall squad is better than yours, hence your way ahead of us. I'd love Tottenham to win the league, the style of football reminds of me Newcastle when Keegan was in charge.

look at the defence you have, the injuries you have and the team he's being forced to play...wenger got quite alot out of his squad today considering. with centre backs at right and left back it's no surprise the goals came the way they did.

the only criticism i can understand being placed at wenger is his recent transfer policy change came too late.

His reasoning with the Sky Sports reporter about subbing Ox saying that he picked up a minor injury in training or some shit made me mad.

His belief in shit players and all round stubbornness has deluded his proper judgement.

Thats all well and good and i've gone through all our other issues injuries etc etc so I'm not gonna go through it again but at the end of the day, I judge things on there merits, you're right, Wenger has had a lot to contend with but there is no excuse for the glaring mistake he made today and the obvious mistakes he has made and continues to make with certain players ie: Johan, Asharvin, Denilson, Chamakh I could go on and on...

All teams have to deal with injuries so I'm not buying that shit, its the managers job to anticipate injuries and have half decent replacements who can step in and do a job, not half wits like Djouru who should be nowhere near the first team.

Like I said before, I don't fully blame Wenger for the transfer policy as I feel the board have a lot to do with it but when you see a manager make such a bad tactical error as he did today, its hard to take.

I'm still wondering what Wenger was thinking subbing Ox.

Disgusted tbh

Is this judgement based off of what happened yesterday, or over the current season?

With the injuries Arsenal have had this season, no RVP I'd see them in the bottom half of the table, probably 11th-13th. They have a good squad when all are fit but have been mad unlucky with injuries, especially with Wilshere sitting out for half the season.

Arsenal have scored 39 goals this season, of those 19 are Van Persie's and 5 are assists. So basically, Van Persie is accountable for 24/39 of your goals. He has been fucking amazing this year, but if you had lost him and not replaced him you would be 9th-10th at best.

Its not that simple mate.

How much did Ronaldo contribute to United the season before he left?

How much does Messi contribute to Barca?

I agree that losing Van P would be damaging especially if we didn't replace him with a very good striker(which I believe we would btw) we wouldn't drift down to the bottom half just because he's gone, that's an extremely niave and simplistic way of looking at things.

Firstly I think if you had all players fit you are top 7 easily even without RVP, I said with the injuries you've had this season, if RVP had left you in the summer and you'd not replaced him, i.e you'd be playing with Chamakh or Bendnter up front, you would be 9th-13th probably.
The difference between this Arsenal squad (inc. injuries) and United's and Barca's is that RVP is Arsenal's only world class player. United have Rooney, and are a highly functional side, whilst Barcelona have Pedro, Iniesta, Xavi, Villa, Sanchez etc etc. Those teams do not and did not rely solely on the players that they have/had, they are/were simply the star players in an already very good team.
And look at United now. Do you really think they would be 2nd and 3 points behind City if they still had Ronaldo? Not a chance. However they are second due to their abundance of match winners, players like Rooney, Nani, Valencia can all swing a match in your favour, players like Gervinho, Walcott, Chamakh, Bendnter (Who would not have gone out on loan if you lost/did not have RVP in the summer) cannot. That is the difference.
The injuries are important though. I am not trying to say Arsenal when fully fit are a bottom 10 side without RVP, that would be gas.

You had Fabregas and Nasri when RVP was picking up injuries, both are match-winners.

Obviously them teams have other sick players, I was using them as an example(mainly United) as an example of a supposed one man team still doing ok when the one man is no longer there. Maybe THIS season we would be doing a lot worse without Robin(not 11th-13th, thats some joke ting) but if we lost him in the summer Wenger would simply have to replace him with a decent striker, maybe not as good as RVP but someone decent, as much as I criticise Wenger he aint stupid enough to not replace Robin adequately

As for Nasri and Cesc, Nasri only performed for half of the season and Cesc was always injured, we never relied on either of them.

Bottom line is, you're overreacting, we have a good enough squad to at least keep us in the top half of the table, there are too many teams worst than us.

Out of interest, name the teams that would be above us if we finished 13th.

Spurs, City, United, L'pool, Chelski, Stoke, Fulham, Newcastle, Villa would all be good enough to come above you if you did not have RVP and suffered the same injuries as you have done. Maybe not 13th (saying that form and confidence can destroy a club, a la Newcastle going down in 2009/10 despite having a good enough squad to come top 10) but that is still 10th.

Arsenal are any side without RVP. Wilshere is just potential, Arteta is any midfielder Walnut is absolute shit, Gervinho hasn't set the world on fire, Song is good, your defence if fit is good, your keeper is good, but your midfield and attack without RVP are no better than Fulham's, who have Dempsey, Ruiz and Dembele who are all very good, and are brilliant at home, Stoke are a highly functional side, and Villa have Bent, Agbonlahor, Albrighton and N'zogbia, they are sides that would be capable of finishing above you if you lost RVP.

Pretty sure Villa wouldn't finish above Arsenal. All 4 players you mentioned haven't been good this season. Stoke I'm not too sure about as well. Highly functional but very one dimensional football. As for Fulham they have all those players and they're not in the top 7, anyway.

Was very far fetched to say that tbh. I think if Arsenal lost RVP they wouldn't come 4th place like they do regularly but they wouldn't be mid table in the slightest.

Majority of teenage Arsenal fans grew up watching the club winning trophies and playing the best football in the country right from the start of them supporting the club. Its hard to stomach for some of them and just as United attract glory hunters, so did we when we had some of the best players in the world, as the trophies have dried up they're gradually exposing themselves.

I don't think wenger would spend the money wisely in January if RvP was injured, it's so hard to buy a top striker in January when you have to stick to a budget.

I was only replying to Mr Nasri's comment about not caring if RvP went tho, I would care if I was a Gooner because he's the main reason they're still top 5 atm.

I'm comparing something that hasn't happened, to something that hasn't happened.

I'll say it differently for you though.

Cheers bro, as you wrote that I was thinking to my self 04/05 was when we won the champions league and were 5th and everton were 4th....... and chelsea/united/arsenal must have been 1-3 so how the fuck did Tottenham fail to get above Arsenal on the last day ]

Remember what happened last time you got champions league football. Couldn't cope with the extra fixtures and dropped straight back out. I'll enjoy watching that happen again.
