Ok so i've got some next swag PC but it's gonna take me ages to afford to buy a new one due to circumstances but I've just been making do- the problem I always have is that when I'm running bare VSTs/VSTis an that you get that fucked up stuttering effect which sometimes FL plays through (and fucks up) and it's just hassle switching everything off all the time.
My tip is once you're happy with the sound of something say a synth and you have all the melodies mapped out you save the preset then right click "replace" and turn it into a blank layer - that way all your midi is still saved and it's still saved in the playlist how it was - this leaves you space to sort out reverb/automation etc. on other elements then come back to the finish product, re add the VSTi and render the track
if you need to tweak thing possibly rendering like 16 bars to wav then checking how it sounds is also a problem - I don't tend to use any samples for meleodies/bass so I find this way helps me in gettin afuller sound on a swag budget
