I've never really bothered to go in the free weight section as it's always full of steroid junkies, but recently it's always been empty as I go quite late.
How did you all start out? Do I need to have someone with me if I'm planning to bench? I'll start out low anyway just to get a feel for the movement n/h

Always been on free weights and body weight exercises tbh, machines have never gave me that pump that feels like I'm working out and I've never seen any results from using them on me.
You won't need anyone spotting you until you get heavier with the bench pressing weight, you can always use dumbells instead to start off with and once you need to get heavier you can use the barbell and get someone to spot you.

Be careful to watch your form though, I fucked up a muscle near my diaphram whilst doing really heavy curls, felt like I had an alien in my abs lol

I was the same at one point. You won't regret it, but remember to start light and watch form, before putting more plates on.

I can never work my muscles to the max with machines, no matter how heavy the weight is
even if i struggle with the weight, i can't really feel a pump, so i always finish off with free weights
definitely go for it, you will see and feel the difference straight away
you don't need anyone with you if you're benching unless you are doing very high weights, just take it slow and work your way up, no need to push yourself to the limit

Can someone tell me why there are always wannabe stunters in that section hogging up all of the space and just idolising themselves up in the mirror comes like fucking wembley market crowded as hell.
More time I've got no choice but being left with machines even though I do like them lol

Virgin gyms are the worst for this that's why I stopped going. Found a gym that's open 24/7 though so I'm thinking about joining that now, jumping in at a time when it should be quiet in the morning.
