After the release of Evolve or Be Extinct (on his birthday, no less, and only 6 months after his 100% Publishing LP), Wiley returns with the title single of his third Big Dada album. Regarded by many as the strongest Wiley album yet, the single takes hold of the album meaning with an unyielding grasp: you can actually hear him enlarge, mutate and shape-shift within the track itself.

Produced by Wiley himself, -Evolve Or Be Extinct- is the ultimate grime track; proof that no one can elevate the genre quite like the Godfather. It’s so strong, in fact, we decided to release it on its own – no remixes, no B-sides, zero fluff. One listen to the track and it becomes clear why: Wiley spits fire for 2 1/2 minutes straight, with lyrical acrobatics that flip and slide through fast-handed jokes, acute observations and boldface call-outs on any non-believers. This is Wiley’s war face, with each line slamming stronger than the last. He doesn’t even stop to take a breath (or create a chorus, for that matter). Heckz is a self-sufficient musician who’s rapidly making a name for himself, beyond hishometown of Wolverhampton. Thanks to a steady flow of freestyles across the local media channels (such as P110, Grime Blog and Word on Road) his proficient way with words has made him stand out, amid a particularly fruitful period in the Midlands Grime scene.
Despite massive competition, his name has been cemented as one of 2012′s underground acts to watch; steaming ahead of others with his abstract viewpoints and inviting flows. However, his music talent doesn’t end at the mic. Beyond his exceptional rhyme skills, Heckz is just as well-known and well-respected as a producer.

Last summer saw the release of debut release, “Hectrumentals”. After amassing 1,000 downloads, it wasn’t long before the likes of DJ Big Mikee, DJ Frampster and S Dot Phillie got his name buzzing on radio from Birmingham to London to Sheffield. With all the Grime hotspots paying attention, the release of “Hectrumentals Vol. 2″ is due to take his exposure to all new heights.

Jam-packed with beats ready to be vocalled by artists, it’s a showreel of his talent. Heckz insists that he doesn’t allow genres to restrict his music and “Hecstrumentals (Vol. 2)” – continuing where the last left off – makes it apparent. The project covers Grime and Hip Hop with a graceful elegance, but retains a gritty undercurrent to keep everyone happy.

If an MC in the scene hasn’t spat over a Hecstrumental by the end of the 2012, they’re not serious.
