The Logan Sama Show – 01 June ‘09
The Wiley, Skepta and Bashy albums were all released yesterday, but Bashy has to wait until next week to grace the Kiss studios. It was Skepta and Wiley’s turn last night.
Except that Wiley didn’t turn up. Cheers Will.
Regardless Logan played some forthcoming tunes in his absence. I’ve always rated the title track on ‘Treddin’ On Thin Ice’, but the Maniac-produced title-track for ‘Race against Time’ is an absolute banger.
‘Next time you talk about albums
Do one first before you get lively,
You’re not Wiley…’
After the first four-bar a cloudy vision of Jammer swirled inside my head.
‘Oi Logan beg you do a wheelie, buss a wheelie ‘cause this one’s deep – jack ‘em! SECKLE.’
However, I don’t think Logan saw it, and no wheelie materialised. Nevertheless, reloads can be given at leisure when the album drops nationwide on July 8th. Average Worker also got a spin, and I was left fuming that I didn’t buy the album from Avalanche Music Hut. Next week I won’t make the same mistake.
A few Bashy tunes were played to mark June 1st, including Before Before and its references to old-school DEE and Dizzee bars. The laid-back, hip-hop beat was unexpected for a Sama-selection, but it was still pretty good. The track is on Bashy’s ‘Catch Me If You Can’, which is currently third in the hip-hop category of the ‘Top Albums’ on iTunes. Good on him.
A few other bits were showcased, including P-Money’s Left the Room. Absolutely dangerous. JME and Marvell have done a tune, and Rude Kid’s popular beat Jack Daniels is getting a release soon on his own label.
Skepta was the guest, and Frisco also turned up for the set after celebrating the release of ‘Microphone Champion’ by being on the piss since 3 ‘o’ clock. The interview was lengthy but a few things were said, including Giggs refusing to ride the original beat on Look Out and Lush being the next single from the album. King of Grime and Nokia Charger Wire will also be available soon as free downloads. But you can listen to it all here.
Skepta also said that he’s always been safe with Big H. ‘Everyone’s gassed, everyone believes the internet… I see H every day.’ They also do a bit of Go Karting, and apparently H hogs the corners when he gets in front. Logan also pops along sometimes and has a fair record. Grime’s extra-curricular activities are serious.
Logan said that there should be footage of these races but, while there isn’t any, I’ve tried to visualise a typical race from the experience of numerous hours playing Mario-Kart:
Big H – light and zippy = Koopa Troopa
Logan – medium-build; all-rounder = Mario
Skepta – heavy-build, more strength than speed = Donkey Kong
Anyway the set cut off early since the guests had a booking, but there were still plenty of beats and bars which you can catch up on here.
See you next week.
