December began with sad and then shocking news. First came word that Leon Ferdinand, aka N.E or Nu Era, a founding member of Organised Grime (O.G’s), had passed away.  He’ll be sorely missed.

Days later, one of the scene’s foremost producers, Maniac, was jailed for 15 years for conspiracy to murder. East London MC Snoopy was sentenced to 18 years at the Old Bailey. Read what the Forum had to say here.

Then, adding to the gloomy start to the month, South Manchester MC Shifty was badly hurt in a car crash. The good news is that he’s now out of hospital, resting at home and making a great recovery. Best wishes go out to him, and to all his family and friends.

Elsewhere, Grimeforum kept on bringing you the best interviews in the scene. In December, Michael Wade snared Smokey Barz, the entrepreneur behind the dynamic, original and rapidly growing SB.TV enterprise, Frankstah talked to MC and producer REC, and we also had a quick catch up with Forum regular M.I.K.
