I heard somebody say I’m not a king, let me remind them about the wickedest ting…

A few months ago, grimeforum.com voted on its undisputed top 3 selected. On that occasion Ghetto came out on top with Wiley second and then Dot Rotten just behind. Well just to infuriate the grime scene further we’ve gone and done it again, except this time we had some nominations so if your name isn’t being mentioned it’s a sure sign you need to step up your game.

Users on the forum were able to make 3 nominations each and the 10 MCs with the most votes were put into a poll, they then had 3 votes each in the poll and the 3 MCs with the most votes were…

1. P-Money

P-Money gained the top spot.

P-Money gained the top spot.

His radio appearances and the release of ‘Money Over Everyone” have launched P-Money into the number one spot. Just shows what regular radio and a good release can do for an MC. P-Money ran away with this poll getting 21 votes more than his closest rival.

“Money Over Everyone is up there for best release of the year, he is always about on radio or having tunes played and his flow is sick.”

“P Money is the in-form MC at the moment, he’s hype, lyrical and puts work in. I don’t think anyone jumps on more sets than Him, Blacks & Little Dee.”

2. Ghetts

Ghetts slipped 1 place to number 2.

Ghetts slipped 1 place to number 2.

Ghetts moves down one spot, but clearly people have enjoyed what they’ve heard recently despite no release from Ghetto since our last poll he’s captured the number 2 spot.

“Most anticipated mixtape/album in my eyes, cop on sight”

“People are saying he ain’t done shit recently, that’s because he’s doing his album and his mixtape AND the Movement album, he’s still the best MC in the scene IMO”

3. Wiley

Wiley's Race Against Time got him the 3rd spot.

Wiley's Race Against Time got him the 3rd spot.

Wiley also moves down one spot but was only 3 votes behind Ghetto. ‘Race Against time’ was considered to be his best album yet by many and despite no Radio appearances he’s managed to hang on to his place in the top 3.

“Race Against Time was big, and work rate is the best”

“Always been top 3 for me really since the game started.”

Since this poll was voted on we’ve had a massive release from Big H and MCs that had been slacking a bit have stepped up their games. Add to that some legends taking back the scene as well as some youngsters emerging as heirs to the throne. All those elements mean that the next time we’re voting on our favourite MCs things could be all change, who’ll win MC of the year in the grimeforum.com awards?
